Set Up Recognition for Your Company
Admins set up recognition in two places in Settings. Recognition Values is where you add the company values that people can tag on kudos and feedback. Recognition is where you turn on the Public Kudos Wall, choose whether names are shown on it, and decide whether kudos need your approval before they appear. Only admins can change these settings.
Watch: set up recognition as an admin
Section titled “Watch: set up recognition as an admin”Who can change recognition settings
Section titled “Who can change recognition settings”Only admins. Employees and managers without the Admin permission can give and receive recognition, but they cannot change the Recognition settings or add, edit or archive company values. To check who is an admin, see Invite Your Team to FeedbackPulse.
Add your company values
Section titled “Add your company values”Company values are the tags people can attach when they give kudos or constructive feedback, so recognition ties back to your company culture. The page starts with a set of default values that you can edit, archive or add to.
- Click Settings, then click Recognition Values in the settings menu
- Click Add value
- Enter a Name, for example “Collaboration”, and optional Helper text that explains the value
- Leave Active on and click Create value
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Edit a value | Changes its name or helper text |
| Archive a value, or turn Active off | The value can no longer be attached to new recognition, but it stays visible on past recognition |
| Move a value up or down | Changes the order of the values |
Each value name must be unique in your company.
Turn on the Public Kudos Wall
Section titled “Turn on the Public Kudos Wall”The Public Kudos Wall shows kudos on a shared page that everyone in your company can open from Kudos Wall in the menu. It is off until an admin turns it on.
- Click Settings, then click Recognition in the settings menu
- Find the Public Kudos Wall section and turn it on
- Choose Named or Anonymous
Changes on this page save automatically.
Named or Anonymous: what appears on the wall
Section titled “Named or Anonymous: what appears on the wall”| Wall mode | What appears on the Kudos Wall |
|---|---|
| Named | Only kudos sent with the sender’s name shown. Names are visible. Kudos sent anonymously stay off the wall |
| Anonymous | All kudos, with the names of both the sender and the recipient hidden |
| Off | No Kudos Wall. Nobody can open it |
Constructive feedback never appears on the Kudos Wall, whatever the mode. See Continuous Feedback for who sees what.
Require approval before kudos appear on the wall
Section titled “Require approval before kudos appear on the wall”Turn on Require Admin Approval in the Public Kudos Wall section if you want to check kudos before everyone can see them.
| Wall mode | Kudos that wait for approval |
|---|---|
| Named | Kudos sent with the sender’s name shown |
| Anonymous | All kudos |
When Require Admin Approval is off, kudos appear on the wall straight away. Whether a kudos needs approval is decided when it is sent, so turning approval on later does not remove kudos that are already on the wall.
Approve kudos from the Recognition Inbox
Section titled “Approve kudos from the Recognition Inbox”Kudos that need approval wait in the Recognition Inbox until an admin approves them.
- Click Recognition in the menu to open the Recognition Inbox
- Find the kudos and click Approve for public wall
- To approve several at once, select them and click Approve Selected
The kudos then appear on the Kudos Wall. To take kudos off the wall later, click Remove from public wall on that row.
