FeedbackPulse Continuous Feedback

Continuous Feedback lets any User send kudos or constructive feedback to an active colleague at any time, outside of formal Review Cycles. Recipients see it on their My Recognitions page. Admins and the recipient’s managers can also see it, so it is not a private channel.

  • Any User can send feedback to any other active User in the same Organization, but not to themselves.
  • Each piece of feedback has a type: Kudos or Constructive.
  • The Sender can tag one or more company values, if the Organization has set them up.
  • The Sender can choose whether to submit anonymously.
  • Organization settings control whether kudos can appear on the Kudos Wall.
  • A Feedback item is created by one User (the Sender) and addressed to one User (the Recipient).
  • A Feedback item belongs to one Organization.
  • A Feedback item has one type: Kudos or Constructive.

The anonymous toggle controls whether the Sender is recorded at all. When Submit Anonymously is on, FeedbackPulse does not store who sent the feedback, so the Sender’s name is hidden from the Recipient, managers, and admins. The toggle is on by default.

Setting What happens
Submit Anonymously on The Sender is not recorded. The Recipient’s email says the feedback came from “A colleague”, and FeedbackPulse shows the Sender as “Anonymous”.
Submit Anonymously off The Sender’s name is shown to the Recipient, to admins and managers who can see the feedback, and, where applicable, on the Kudos Wall.

The Recipient sees every kudos they receive on My Recognitions. Admins can see all kudos in the Recognition Inbox. Managers in the Recipient’s reporting line, including a manager’s manager, can see the Recipient’s kudos on their employee profile.

Kudos can also appear on the Kudos Wall when the Organization has enabled the Public Kudos Wall. Admins can choose one of these Kudos Wall modes:

Kudos Wall mode What appears on the wall
Off No kudos appear on a public wall.
Named Only non-anonymous kudos appear, with the Sender’s and Recipient’s names visible.
Anonymous All kudos appear, with both the Sender’s and Recipient’s names hidden.

If Require Admin Approval is enabled, kudos must be approved by an Admin before they appear on the wall. The Recipient still sees the kudos on My Recognitions straight away.

Constructive feedback never appears on the Kudos Wall. These people can see it:

  • the Recipient, on My Recognitions, and by email when recipient emails are enabled
  • admins, in the Recognition Inbox
  • the Recipient’s direct manager, on the Recipient’s employee profile and while writing the Recipient’s performance review

Managers further up the reporting line cannot see constructive feedback. Constructive feedback sent before FeedbackPulse began showing it to managers stays hidden from managers.

Configured recognition notification recipients also receive an email when new feedback is submitted. To change which admins receive those emails, see Recognition Notification Settings. Do not use Constructive feedback as a confidential HR case-management channel.

How Continuous Feedback relates to Reviews

Section titled “How Continuous Feedback relates to Reviews”

Continuous Feedback and Performance Reviews are separate systems. Continuous Feedback is not scored and does not add to review ratings.

A Manager writing a Performance Review can click View feedback history to read the Employee’s recognition alongside the review form. The history shows the current review period by default, and the Manager can switch to all history. Kudos appear for any Manager who can view the Employee. Constructive feedback appears only for the Employee’s direct Manager.

  • Feedback cannot be edited after submission.
  • Feedback cannot be deleted by the Sender. Admins can remove inappropriate feedback, which hides it from the Recipient’s view, reports, exports, and the Kudos Wall. Emails already sent cannot be recalled.
  • A User cannot send feedback to themselves.
  • Each piece of feedback can be up to 5,000 characters.
  • Continuous Feedback is separate from Peer Reviews. It is informal and not tied to a Review Cycle.

Q: What is the difference between Continuous Feedback and a Peer Review? A: Continuous Feedback is informal, initiated by any User at any time, and not tied to a deadline. A Peer Review is structured, assigned by a Manager, tied to a Review Cycle, and has a deadline. Continuous Feedback is free-form; Peer Reviews use structured questions.

Q: Can I send anonymous Continuous Feedback? A: Yes. Submit Anonymously is on by default. When it is on, FeedbackPulse does not record you as the Sender, so admins cannot see who sent it either.
